Survey Manager Overview
The collection of all forms of data and information is a core activity of any government or business enterprise. We all need to continuously gather information from our employees, customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
So why not do it properly? Why not obtain this information in a format which you can use instantly and connect to your employee, customer, supplier and stakeholder business processes?
Australian Survey Research has developed the software technology to do this. We also offer the technical services to create the interfaces from Survey Manager to your other systems. Survey Manager enables organisations to centralise and streamline their surveys, run multiple projects simultaneously and consolidate findings into a single database. As Survey Manager interfaces with key business systems, it can quickly bring new value and insights to employee, customer, supplier and stakeholder business processes.
Survey Manager was originally developed by Australian Survey Research as its proprietary research tool. It now manages the survey needs for an impressive client list that includes key Commonwealth and State government departments, top 100 companies and major universities.
Survey Manager is available as an outsourced option through ASR's Survey Services bureau, or for purchase with full technical support from ASR.
In the single system, Survey Manager combines web and paper questionnaires and forms. It combines easy-to-use web content management capability with the creation, approval and publication of web content and complex documents in multiple formats.
Survey Manager supports six types of survey/project:
- Anonymous
A survey that can be answered by anyone with access to the survey link. Respondents remain completely anonymous. - Anonymous with return later password
A survey that can be answered by anyone with access to the survey link. A respondent can nominate a password (optional) to allow completion over the course of multiple sessions. Respondents remain completely anonymous. - Anonymous with unique login code
A survey that can be answered by anyone with access to the survey link accompanied by a unique login code. Respondents remain completely anonymous. - Anonymous with survey access codes
A survey that can be answered by anyone with access to the survey link who has the common survey password - one password for all respondents. Respondents remain completely anonymous. - Invitational
A survey that is distributed to a pool of known respondents. Each invitee is provided with a unique ID/password with which to access the survey, which also serves as a respondent identifier. - Multi-rater surveys
All variants of upward feedback, team, 180° and 360° surveys. Each respondent gets a personalised web menu of questionnaires for each person they are answering about, together with their role with regard to the person (manager, peer, subordinate, etc). As they progress through their menu, the numbers of questionnaires diminish.
Survey Manager also supports Multiple-use e-forms for enrolment, customer feedback, warranties, etc and Single-use e-forms for a survey or registration.
Meta-tagging of survey data
The new product is an integrated solution managing questionnaire creation, respondent management and survey administration through your web browser. It is accessed from the comfort of your office.
Survey Manager 2 incorporates many new features. It also meta-tags all survey data, from the questionnaire through to respondent answers. The meta-tagging combines automated and user-defined components, or can be turned off.
We believe that meta-tagging should occur as you build up the survey database. It will assist users to conduct longitudinal studies of questionnaires which are not identical.
It also means that when large survey databases are created, they can be interrogated in their entirety.
Examples would be:
- Update ages in from one survey to be able to compare with data from another survey (simple case),
- Perform a calculation on selected answers to create a new data variable (more advanced case), or
- Retrieve selectively across multiple datasets (advanced case).
Multilingual
Survey Manager supports most languages. The use can create multiple language versions of the questionnaire and respondents can select which language suits them.
During questionnaire construction, an English user (for example) can ask a French-speaking colleague (for example) to logon and translate the questionnaire and survey instructions into French. The translator is presented with a screen which shows the English questionnaire side by side with space to write the French questionnaire and survey instructions.
This means that a translator can be located anywhere in the world, making it easy for multi-language organisations to set up and run survey projects across their workforce, customers and other stakeholders. This enables a unified result to be obtained from running a single project in multiple languages.
